Sunday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – After a thrashing last night at the hands of the Colorado Rockies, the St. Louis Cardinals would like nothing better than to set the record straight Sunday afternoon at Coors Field.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made the Rockies a -125 favorite in the contest and the Cardinals are a +115 underdog. Action is slated to begin at 3:15PM EST.
After St. Louis topped Colorado 10-3 in Friday night’s opener, the Rockies offense was in full force Saturday as they cruised to a 15-4 victory. Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia allowed 12 runs (11 earned) in the contest.
Starting for St. Louis Sunday will be Kyle Lohse, who is 6-2 with a 2.06 ERA on the season. Colorado will go with Jhoulys Chacin, who is 5-3 with a 3.09 ERA on the season.
St. Louis comes in with a 31-22 record and leads the National League Central by 2.5 games. Colorado is 25-26 on the year, putting it in third place in the NL West and three games out of first.
MLB Picks: St. Louis has been solid most of the season after a rough start and have played consistent ball on the road. Meanwhile, Lohse has compiled the best stretch of his career and is a huge boost after the season-ending injury to Adam Wainwright. According to the latest MLB trends, Chacin gave up four earned runs on five hits in three innings during his only appearance in his career versus the Cardinals. Lohse is 1-3 with a 3.92 ERA in seven career starts against the Rockies. I think St. Louis takes this rubber game as it is a team playing some of the best baseball in the National League. Saturday was an anomaly and not the norm. Look for Lohse to toss yet another quality start and for St. Louis to make good on its +115 price.
