Tuesday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – One of the oldest rivalries in baseball will be renewed tonight at Wrigley Field when the Cubs host the Cardinals at 8:05PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the visiting Cardinals –113 money line favorites over the Cubs, who are +106 on the ML. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 7.5 runs.
The Cardinals are coming off a seven-game homestand in which they went 4-3. In their last outing on Sunday, they beat the Brewers 3-1 after being blanked by Yovani Gallardo 4-0 on Saturday. St. Louis comes into Tuesday’s game with the Cubs at 20-15 overall.
Meanwhile, Chicago returned home after a West Coast road trip and promptly dropped two of three against the Reds. In that three game series with Cincinnati, the Cubs scored a total of just seven runs and were shutout 2-0 on Sunday.
MLB Free Pick: Chris Carpenter is due. He hasn’t pitched lights out this year but he’s pitched well enough to pick up a win. Yet, he comes into tonight with an 0-2 record and a 4.19 ERA. The Cubs have faired well against Carpenter over the years when Carlos Zambrano takes the hill, winning five of the last five matchups. But again: Carpenter and the Cardinals are due. According to latest MLB trends, the Cards are 4-1 in their last five road games and 4-1 in their last five matchups against the National League Central. While Albert Pujols continues to battle inconsistency issues, Matt Holliday and Lance Berkman are red-hot. Take St. Louis at a nice price.
TUESDAY MLB FREE PICK: ST. LOUIS CARDINALS –113
