Wednesday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – The St. Louis Cardinals look to bounce back on Wednesday when they take on the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park at 8:05PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Cardinals –132 money line favorites over the Astros, who are +124 on the ML. The over/under total for this game is currently 8.5 runs.
The Astros beat the Cards 6-5 on Tuesday in dramatic fashion. After St. Louis took a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth when Lance Berkman doubled home Matt Holliday, Bill Hall sent the home crowd home happy with a walk-off single in the bottom of the nine to score the winning run.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 12-11 on the season and 6-5 away from Busch Stadium. The Astros improved to 9-14 on the year and are now 5-6 at home at Minute Maid Park.
MLB Free Pick: The Cardinals have had all kinds of issues closing out games in the later innings. Ryan Franklin has been a disaster all season and it was Mitchell Boggs who provided the agony on Tuesday by allowing two runs on four hits (his wild pitch also allowed the tying run to cross the plate). Given all of their bullpen issues, it’s hard to trust the Cardinals in close games. St. Louis has struggled recently in Houston, too. According to latest MLB trends, the Cards are 0-4 in their last four trips to Houston and 0-4 in their last four games against the Astros. They’re also 0-6 in Kyle Lohse’s last six starts on Wednesday and 2-10 in his last 12 starts as a road favorite. Take Houston.
WEDNESDAY MLB FREE PICK: HOUSTON ASTROS +124
