Wednesday MLB Free Pick
(The Spread) – The Giants will look to get back on the right track tonight when they host the Marlins at 10:15PM ET.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made the Giants –130 money line favorites over the visiting Marlins, who are +125 on the ML. The over/under total for tonight’s game is currently 7.5 runs.
The Giants had their five-game winning streak snapped last night when the Marlins overpowered them 5-1. It was a rare off night for starter Matt Cain, who allowed four runs on six hits over six innings of work. While Buster Posey and Cody Ross each finished with two hits apiece, the Giants’ offense was nonexistent, although the club did manage to scratch across a run in the ninth to avoid the shutout.
Ricky Nolasco was fantastic for the Marlins, scattering seven hits over 8.1 innings of work and allowing just one run. Gabby Sanchez delivered the big blow in the third when he drove in three runs with a standup double. Mike Stanton then connected for his 11th home run of the year in the top of the fourth.
MLB Free Pick: Despite their lackluster effort on Tuesday, the Giants should rebound tonight. They don’t lose many games at home and Madison Bumgarner, despite his 1-6 ecord, has pitched very well of late. According to latest MLB trends, the Giants are 9-1 in their last 10 home games and 5-1 in their last six games overall. If they can manage to find a little offense tonight, they should get back to their winning ways. And even then, many times just two or three runs will be enough for their usually outstanding pitching staff.
