Oakland A’s at Detroit Tigers, 7:05PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have started to break through the hitting woes that have plagued them all season.
That resurgent offense will get a test Friday night against one of the AL’s top pitchers at the start of a three-game series in Detroit.
Oakland (13-18) entered a two-game home set with Kansas City last in the AL with a .236 batting average, 121 runs and 18 home runs, but produced 19 runs and 20 hits in a sweep of the Royals.

Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals, 7:05PM ET
Washington Nationals left-hander John Lannan pitched out of a couple jams in his last start.
He hasn’t been as fortunate in his career against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Lannan looks to win his first game versus Philadelphia as Washington opens a four-game set against the slumping Phillies on Friday night at Nationals Park.
Washington (11-21) has lost three of five to Philadelphia (16-16) this season, including 7-1 on April 28. In that game, Lannan (2-3, 3.89 ERA) yielded six runs in five innings to fall to 0-4 with a 6.23 ERA in five career starts against Philadelphia.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves, 7:35PM ET
Back at Turner Field following a successful road trip, the Atlanta Braves look to continue that resurgence where they’ve struggled this season.
Javier Vazquez and his team’s lineup hope to avoid another poor effort at Turner Field when Atlanta opens a 10-game homestand Thursday night in a matchup with the slumping Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Braves (17-17) closed their 6-2 trip Wednesday with an 8-7 win over the New York Mets on Martin Prado’s 12th-inning homer.
