Saturday MLB Picks
Our team of writers and handicappers hand out their MLB picks and predictions for Saturday, May 9.
Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies, 3:40PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies could finally exhale after World Series MVP Cole Hamels finally won a game.
They now hope Joe Blanton can provide further consistency from the rotation as the Phillies continue their three-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Saturday afternoon.
Hamels had suffered a bruised shoulder and sprained left ankle in his previous two starts, with the latter injury causing him to skip a turn in the rotation. But the left-hander pitched six innings and didn’t suffer a injury as Philadelphia (15-12) opened the series with a 10-6 victory.

New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles, 7:05PM ET
The New York Yankees are going to need more than a healthy Alex Rodriguez to meet their lofty expectations but they are instantly better with the three-time MVP back in their lineup.
After a triumphant season debut, Rodriguez tries to lead the Yankees to a second straight victory Saturday night as they continue a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Tormented by stories of his steroid use and slowed by hip surgery that forced him to miss his team’s first 28 games, Rodriguez immediately made his presence felt in his first at-bat of the season Friday, hitting a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw from Jeremy Guthrie.

Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox, 3:40PM ET
The Boston Red Sox got into a groove at the plate in the sixth inning of each of their last two games. Scott Kazmir has been providing opposing lineups with an equal opportunity for success throughout his starts.
Coming off another productive game, the Red Sox look to deal the All-Star left-hander his third straight loss in the middle game of their series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.
Boston (19-11) scored five runs in the sixth inning of a 7-3 win over Tampa Bay (14-17) on Friday night, one day after matching a modern major league record and setting an AL mark with 12 runs in the sixth of a 13-3 victory over Cleveland.
