Yanks try to spoil Orioles’ postseason push
Having claimed six of their past seven contests, the Orioles are clearly producing playoff-caliber results. But can Buck Showalter’s team officially punch its postseason ticket today?
Baltimore continues a three-game set against the Yankees at 4:05 p.m. ET. Handicappers at online sports book BetDSI, however, aren’t necessarily feeling the O’s. Instead, host New York is considered a 1.5-run favorite. The over/under run total holds steady at 8.5.
Despite this afternoon’s underdog tag, the Orioles are a game ahead of Toronto for the first wild-card spot in the American League. They used homers from Mark Trumbo, Adam Jones and Jonathan Schoop to blast the Bronx Bombers in the series opener, 8-1. Showalter wants to see more of the same vs. Luis Severino, who owns a 0-8 record with an 8.59 ERA in his past 10 starts.
For the visitors, Wade Miley strides to the mound. The veteran’s 0-3 with a 5.77 ERA in six career appearances against the Yanks. Most recently, however, Miley fanned 11 hitters in a 6-1 triumph over Arizona.

Engaging in its second tilt after being eliminated from playoff contention, New York’s clearly fatigued. We’re also very skeptical about Severino’s ability to suddenly reverse course on the rubber. Ride with Baltimore to take care of business.
