Yanks-Dodgers opener features stud arms
It wouldn’t be the stretch run of 2016 if the Dodgers weren’t counting on another top-end prospect for a critical starting assignment.
Such is the case, once again, tonight. First-place Los Angeles asks Jose DeLeon to tame the surging Yankees beginning at 7:05 p.m. ET. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI like the visiting squad to prevail, whereas New York represents a +131 underdog. The over/under run figure rests at 8.5.
After tearing up the Pacific Coast League, DeLeon becomes the latest Dodgers phenom to get a taste of the bigs this season. He went 7-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 111 punchouts for Triple-A Oklahoma City. In his debut on Sept. 4, DeLeon held the Padres to three earned runs and five hits in six innings.
Joe Girardi answers with Bryan Mitchell, who’s not exactly the most battle-hardened hurler either. The 2_-year-old missed the entire first half of the campaign due to a toe injury, finally appearing in a 2-0 triumph at Toronto almost a week ago. Mitchell will attempt to give the Yanks some crucial work after Luis Cessa flamed out in yesterday’s finale against Tampa Bay.

These two clubs continue to play largely sound baseball, but we’re anticipating a sloppier affair shortly. Look for both offenses to enjoy a fair amount of success.
