Latest on Hellickson via Rotoworld: Hellickson allowed three runs over six innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Pirates. Hellickson allowed all three runs on a pair of homers in the fourth, a two-run shot by Josh Bell and a solo homer by Gregory Polanco, but he was otherwise terrific. The right-hander gave up just five hits without walking a batter and striking out four in all. The quality start was his third in his last four outings, leaving him at 5-5 with a 4.49 ERA as he hits the break. Hellickson has much less appeal than he did at this time a year ago, but as a pending free agent he could still find himself the subject of trade rumors over the course of this month.
Garza twirled 6 1/3 scoreless innings during a 4-0 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. He struck out three batters while walking two and allowing five base hits in the sterling effort. He wasn’t blowing people away but the Orioles couldn’t mount much of a challenge nonetheless. Garza evens his record at 4-4 with a 3.98 ERA in 13 starts.
