From Rotoworld: Pivetta struck out nine while allowing three runs over seven innings but settled for a no-decision against the Padres on Friday. Pivetta surrendered just five hits without allowing a walk; the problem, then, is that of those five hits, three left the yard. The homers tarnished what was otherwise a very strong start from the 24-year-old, who has been terrific in three of his last four outings heading into the break. Like all rookies, he’s had ups and downs en route to a 2-4 record, 4.73 ERA and 1.44 WHIP, and he’ll assuredly continue to have highs and lows over the season’s second half.
Davies limited the Cubs to two runs over six innings of work in an 11-2 victory. He gave up five hits – including a home run to Willson Contreras – and struck out three while not walking anyone (although he did hit a couple batters). The biggest part of the game for Davies came in the bottom of the third, when he limited the Cubs to just one run after loading the bases with Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo due up. Davies has had a rough first half but finishes it out on a nice note.
Bet Tonight’s Phillies vs. Brewers Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Phillies are 2-5 in Pivetta’s last seven road starts, are 3-8 in his last 11 outings overall, and are 14-42 in their last 45 road games overall. The Brewers, meanwhile, are 6-1 in their last seven games overall, are 7-1 in their last eight home games, and are 6-1 in Davies’ last seven starts. Milwaukee has won five of Davies’ last seven home starts as well.
