Porcello aims to extend brilliant run vs. O’s
Boston’s Rick Porcello has been nothing short of astounding at home this season. After an impressive showing yesterday, though, will Baltimore puncture his aura of invincibility?
The two squads conclude their three-game set tonight, with a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Fenway Park. Oddsmakers at online sports book Bovada.lv prefer the Red Sox (81-63), while Buck Showalter’s crew enters the affair as a +132 underdog. The over/under run total rests at nine.
David Price’s second-half resurgence continues to garner a lot of ink in Beantown. Yet Porcello’s the lone MLB hurler with 20 victories, having gone 14-0 with a 3.03 ERA and 77 strikeouts in the cathedral of Boston. Most recently, he limited the Blue Jays to two runs on six hits and a walk in seven frames.
The O’s (79-65) counter with Kevin Gausman, who just had a four-start winning streak snapped. Since Aug. 23, the 25-year-old righty boasts a 1.08 ERA. He’s 2-3 with a 1.23 WHIP in 12 career appearances vs. the Red Sox.

David Ortiz and Mookie Betts, in particular, tend to enjoy a ton of success against Gausman, so we’re pretty confident about the hosts’ chances of prevailing soon – despite the Orioles’ 6-3 triumph roughly seven hours ago. At the same time, Porcello’s due for a bit of a clunker. Bank on a relatively high-scoring series finale.
