Latest on Wainwright from Rotoworld: Wainwright held the Giants to one run over 6 1/3 innings Sunday in the Cardinals’ 8-3 victory. Wainwright also pitched well in his last start, delivering seven shutout innings against the rival Cubs. He gave up only five hits on Sunday (two doubles, three singles) while striking out six. Wainwright walked three. The veteran right-hander now has a 4-3 record, 4.81 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and 42/20 K/BB ratio in 48 2/3 innings (nine starts) this season. He’ll try to keep it rolling next time out at Coors Field.
Freeland allowed four runs — three earned — over 5 2/3 innings but earned a win Sunday versus the Reds. Freeland didn’t pitch all that well in this one, walking two and yielding five hits (including two home runs) while failing to make it out of the sixth inning, but he was able to easily out-duel Reds starter Bronson Arroyo. And the young right-hander slugged his first career home run in the top of the fifth inning. Freeland is now 5-2 with a 3.31 ERA through nine starts this season.
