MLB Predictions: Can Cardinals stay hot with win vs. Brewers? 4/20/17

Cardinals vs. Brewers Prediction

Can the Cardinals stay hot with a win tonight against the Brewers at 8:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cardinals are -115 money line favorites versus the Brewers, who have odds of +105 to pull off the upset tonight at home. With Carlos Martinez set to face Zach Davies in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8 runs.

Martinez had a strange outing last weekend in New York, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out 11 batters but registering eight walks in the process. He also had a throwing error that led to a run in his 5 1/3 innings of work. The Cardinals’ ace is 1-2 on the year, with one brilliant effort against the Cubs in the season opener and two duds against the Reds and Yankees, respectively.

In three games this season, Davies owns an 8.79 ERA to go along with a 2.46 WHIP over 14 1/3 innings of work. He allowed three runs on five hits with two walks while striking out four batters over five innings last Saturday versus Cincinnati. He has potential, but he’s been erratic to start 2017.

Bet Tonight’s Cardinals vs. Brewers Game

OUR PICK: Even though Martinez has turned in two rough outings, the price on him and the Cardinals tonight is just too good to pass up. The Cards are 19-8 in Martinez’s last 27 road starts and are 21-10 in his last 31 outings versus divisional opponents. The Cards are also hot, sweeping the Pirates over their last three games despite receiving a total of just six runs (two per game) from their offense. The Brewers also might be a little shell-shocked after blowing back-to-back leads at Wrigley the past two days.
