CURRENT ODDS

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Seattle is the slight favorite in this game, as the Mariners are getting odds of -115 to win at Kansas City. The Royals are getting odds of +105 to prevail. The over/under total is currently listed at 8.5 runs.

PITCHING MATCHUP

The pitching matchup today has Felix Hernandez on the mound for the Mariners to face Eric Skoglund of the Royals. King Felix is coming off a poor showing at San Francisco where he allowed eight runs over four innings and gave up three home runs. On the season he has a 7.71 ERA through two starts. Skoglund is making his first start of 2018. He appeared in seven games last year and had a 9.50 ERA over 18 innings with 12 walks and 14 strikeouts.

PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION

The public betting for this game is behind the Mariners. Seattle is getting 67 percent of the wagers on the road against the Royals.

KEY INJURIES

Kansas City has Alex Gordon listed on the injury report for today’s contest. He is day-to-day while dealing with a groin injury. Seattle DH Nelson Cruz is on the 10-day DL with an oblique strain and first baseman Ryon Healy is questionable to play today with an ankle injury.

BETTING STRATEGIES

Kansas City dominated Seattle in the first game of the series in a 10-0 victory. Jakob Junis pitched seven scoreless innings to get his second win. He allowed just one hit with two walks and three strikeouts. Marco Gonzalez pitched 2.1 innings for the Mariners and allowed four runs on eight hits. Casey Lawrence then gave up five runs over 1.2 innings on four hits and two walks.

At the plate, KC was led by Mike Moustakas, who had three hits and three RBI, including his first home run of the season. Alcides Escobar and Drew Butera each had two RBI in the win as well. Dee Gordon and Daniel Vogelbach had the lone hits for the Royals.

Seattle had nothing to offer at the plate on Monday night, but that should change against Skoglund, who hasn’t looked good in any pitching appearance. King Felix struggled in his last start, but still has the capability to be dominant. I think he will look more like his old self against this KC lineup today.
