Latest on Davies via Rotoworld: Davies didn’t have his best stuff Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks. It was actually a very gutty performance from Davies, given that he was able to put forth what we deem as a quality start despite his struggles. A pair of homers, one in the first and one in the second, were most of the Diamondbacks’ offense on the night, with Davies able to make pitches when needed to avoid further damage. He also walked two and struck out two. The 24-year-old is now 5-3 with a 5.33 ERA in 10 starts overall.
Pill will start Tuesday against the Brewers. That was the expectation, but it’s now official. Pill pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief in his major league debut Saturday against the Pirates. The 27-year-old posted a 1.96 ERA through seven starts in Triple-A this year, though he struck out just 23 batters in 46 innings.
Bet Tonight’s Brewers vs. Mets Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Brewers have won six of Davies’ last seven starts, are 5-1 in his last six outings on the road, and have won six of his last six outings when he faces a team with a losing record. The Mets, meanwhile, are 2-7 in their last nine games when facing an opponent with a losing record and have dropped four of their last five games when playing the second game of a series. This is a tough assignment tonight for Pill. Milwaukee’s lineup is dangerous.
