From Rotoworld: Gray (foot) will rejoin the Rockies’ rotation on Friday in Arizona. We knew it was going to be at some point this weekend and now we have an official date. Gray has been on the shelf since mid-April with a stress fracture in his left foot but got through a rehab assignment with no issues.
Ray allowed just two earned runs while scattering six hits over 6 1/3 innings in Saturday’s victory against Philadelphia. Ray improved to 8-3 while posting his sixth quality start over his past seven outings. He hasn’t lost since May 9 against the Tigers, a span of nine starts. It’s a bit concerning that his walks are way up lately and his strikeouts have been down, but he is still winning on a regular basis.
Bet Tonight’s Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Game
OUR PREDICTION: I can’t back the Rockies right now, especially against a solid starter in Ray. Colorado is 0-8 in its last eight games overall, is winless in its last eight divisional games, and is just 5-16 in Gray’s last 21 road starts dating back to last season. On the other sdie, the Diamondbacks are 16-5 in their last 21 games overall, is 38-14 in their last 52 home games, and is 7-0 in Ray’s last seven starts.
