MLB Predictions: Can the Indians get another win over the Rockies? 8/9/17

Rockies vs. Indians Pick

Can the Cleveland Indians pick up a second win over the Colorado Rockies when these two meet up this afternoon at 12:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Indians are the clear favorite tonight, as they are getting odds of -170 to win. The Rockies are listed with a money line of +150 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 9.5 runs.

The pitching matchup this afternoon has Antonio Senzatela (10-4, 4.78 ERA) on the mound for the Rockies to face Trevor Bauer (10-8, 5.00) of the Indians. Senzatela has been used in some relief spots lately and has been struggling in those as well. He has 79 strikeouts on the year with 36 walks and a 1.27 WHIP. Bauer has allowed just two runs over his last 15 innings of work. He now has 124 strikeouts with 44 walks and a 1.45 WHIP.

These two opened up a midweek series on Tuesday night with the Indians picking up a 4-1 victory. The home team has now won all three meetings between the two this year. Cleveland is now 60-50 overall and 31-26 at home while the Rockies are 64-49 overall and 29-28 on the road.

Tuesday’s game saw the Rockies actually leading 1-0 entering the bottom of the ninth, but then things fell apart and Austin Jackson singled in the tying run while Yan Gomes had a three-run home run to end it. Greg Holland blew his third save of the season and ruined a great outing for German Marquez, who pitched six scoreless innings. Corey Kluber had another shutout for the Indians, racking up 11 strikeouts while giving up just three hits. He is now 10-3 on the season. The lone Colorado run came on Charlie Blackmon’s 26th home run of 2017.

Bet on Rockies vs. Indians

I took a chance on the Rockies for an upset on Tuesday and they almost got it. I won’t take that same chance tonight. Bauer has been looking really good on the mound and should be able to continue his strong run. Senzatela hasn’t been able to settle in to a starter or reliever role for Colorado. Even if he were to pitch better than usual, he’s not likely to get deep into the game. Cleveland should find enough offense to keep Bauer from having to be perfect.
