The pitching matchup for this game has Andrew Moore on the mound for Seattle to face Daniel Norris (4-4, 4.42 ERA) of the Tigers. Moore is making his MLB debut tonight for Seattle. Norris is making his 14th start of the season. He has 69 strikeouts and 31 walks this season while allowing 35 earned runs over 71.1 innings. His WHIP this year is 1.60.
Seattle has won the first three games of this series by a combined score of 18-11. Seattle has won five straight over the Tigers now. The Mariners are now 37-37 overall and 23-13 at home. Detroit is 32-39 overall and 14-23 on the road.
The Tigers once again saw their bullpen blow a lead on Wednesday night in a 7-5 loss to Detroit. Justin Verlander pitched five perfect innings, but then allowed three runs in the sixth. Shane Greene came in for relief but allowed four runs in his one inning of work to take the loss. Nelson Cruz had three RBI to lead Seattle in the comeback win while Robinson Cano drove in two. Justin Upton led the Tigers with three RBI
The Tigers are a mess right now. Even when they get a good start, the bullpen blows the game. Or, if the hitters finally produce, the bullpen blows the game. Sometimes, they just get destroyed from the start. Even though Seattle is starting a rookie, I don’t think that will matter. Kansas City did that a few weeks ago and the Tigers couldn’t score on him. Norris isn’t exactly a lockdown pitcher either, so the Tigers will have to turn to its pen once again.
