Twins vs. Rays Pick
Can the Tampa Bay Rays complete a sweep of the Minnesota Twins when the two meet up this afternoon at 1:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Rays are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -165 to win, while the Twins are listed with a money line of +145 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has been set at 9 runs.

The pitching matchup today has Aaron Slegers (0-0, 2.84 ERA) on the mound for the Twins to face Blake Snell (3-6, 4.02) of the Rays. Snell has been in a nice run, allowing just three runs over his last 20.2 innings of work. He has 88 strikeouts this season with 50 walks and a 1.39 WHIP. Slegers is making just his second career start. He allowed two runs over 6.1 innings against the Indians in his first start. He gave up just two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Tampa Bay has won the first two games of this series, picking up an 11-4 victory on Monday and then a 2-1 win on Tuesday. The Rays are now 70-70 overall and 36-33 at home while the Twins are 71-67 overall and 36-30 on the road.
On Tuesday, the Rays got 6.2 scoreless innings from Jake Odorizzi, who collected his eighth win of the season. Bartolo Colon pitched well, allowing just two runs in 6.2 innings, but took the loss for the Twins. Lucas Duda had a home run, a double and two RBI to lead the Rays in the win. Minnesota got its lone run from a home run by Robbie Grossman.
Snell hasn’t had the best numbers this season, but he seems to be in a good groove on the mound right now. He steps on the rubber today against a Minnesota lineup that hasn’t been swinging the bats well in this series so far. Tampa gets to face Slegers, who has little MLB experience. While his first start was competitive, I think he may struggle on the road today. Look for Tampa Bay to complete the sweep.
