Tigers vs. White Sox Pick
Will the Detroit Tigers be able to start the season 2-0 when they take on the Chicago White Sox today at 2:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Tigers are listed as the favorite on the road, as they are getting odds of -130 to win, while the home White Sox are getting odds of +120 to prevail. The over/under total for the game is listed at 8.5 runs. The Tigers won Tuesday’s opener, 6-3.

The Tigers are putting Jordan Zimmerman on the mound today. After a hot start in 2016, he struggled mightily and battled injuries the rest of the way. He was 9-7 with a 4.87 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. Detroit racked up three home runs in Tuesday’s win with Ian Kinsler, Jacoby Jones and Nick Castellanos each going long. As a team, Detroit had just six hits to go with its six runs.
The White Sox send James Shields to the mound today. He spent time with San Diego and Chicago last season but didn’t do well at either spot. He was 6-19 overall with a 5.85 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 2016. The Sox had eight hits in yesterday’s loss, but struck out 11 times, including 10 times to Justin Verlander. Melky Cabrera had two doubles to lead Chicago.
The pitching matchup isn’t stellar today, but Shields has really struggled while Zimmerman did show some moments of brilliance in 2016. Also, when both pitchers are bad, I tend to trust the better batting lineup. I think the Tigers have the better of the two lineups and they should continue to show some good power today against Shields.
