Will the Kansas City Royals be able to get back to .500 this afternoon when they host the Chicago White Sox at 1:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Kansas City is favored at home, as the Royals are getting odds of -175 to win, while the White Sox are listed with a money line of +150 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 10 runs.

The pitching matchup tonight today has Dylan Covey (0-4, 8.08 ERA) on the mound for the White Sox to face Sam Gaviglio (3-5, 4.41) of the Royals. Covey has started eight games this year while appearing in 14 total. He has 29 strikeouts with 23 walks over 49 innings and has a 1.80 WHIP. Gaviglio had his first start with the Royals last week, pitching five innings while allowing one run against the Twins. On the year, he has 43 strikeouts with 24 walks and a 1.35 WHIP.
Chicago picked up an 11-3 win on Monday over the Royals, but Kansas City has still won five of the last seven meetings. The White Sox are now 57-86 overall and 23-46 on the road. Kansas City is 71-72 overall and 38-35 at home.
Monday’s game was complete domination by the White Sox, posting 11 runs on 17 hits. Jason Hammel fell to 8-11 on the season, allowing five runs over 3.1 innings. Reynaldo Lopez pitched six innings, allowing three runs to get his first win for the White Sox. Jose Abreu had four hits and drove in two runs to lead the White Sox while Adam Engel had three hits and drove in three runs.
This game could be a mess, as Covey hasn’t done anything to be excited about. He is giving up plenty of runs in his short stints. Gaviglio hasn’t been great either, but seems to be the better of the two pitchers. The key will be for the Royals’ bats to not go silent again. I think they can avoid this by facing the struggling pitcher.
