Tigers vs. Rangers Pick
Can the Detroit Tigers ride their ace to a road win over the Texas Rangers when the two meet up tonight at 8:05PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Tigers are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -125 to win. The Rangers are listed with odds of +105 to win, while the over/under total for the contest has been set at 10 runs.

The pitching matchup tonight has Justin Verlander (8-7, 3.97 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face A.J. Griffin (5-3, 5.40) of the Rangers. Verlander has been very good as of late, allowing just two runs over his last three starts, a total of 21 innings. He now has 142 strikeouts with 63 walks and a 1.36 WHIP. Griffin has allowed at least four runs in four of his last five starts. He now has 42 strikeouts and 16 walks this season with a 1.20 WHIP.
These two opened the series on Monday with Texas earning a 6-2 win. The Rangers have won three of four meetings with the Tigers this year. Texas is now 57-60 overall and 31-27 at home while Detroit is 53-65 overall and 24-37 on the road.
Monday’s game saw the Rangers get to Michael Fulmer early. Fulmer allowed five runs in five innings to take his 10th loss of the year. Martin Perez allowed just two runs over six innings to earn his seventh win of 2017. Joey Gallo connected on his 33rd home run of the season to lead Texas while Rougned Odor had three hits and scored three runs. Justin Upton had his 23rd home run of the season to lead the Tigers.
Verlander has been locked in and looking like his old self lately. I think he will have another great outing tonight. The key will be if he can get some run support and for his bullpen to not implode. Detroit should be able to get to Griffin, who has been allowing handfuls of runs in recent starts. I think the support will be enough for Verlander to have some breathing room for his bullpen late in the game.
