The pitching matchup tonight has Chad Kuhl on the mound for the Pirates to face Sal Romano of the Reds. Romano took a loss against the Nationals in his first start. He allowed three runs and four hits over six innings with four walks and two strikeouts. Kuhl earned a win over the Tigers despite allowing four runs and eight hits over 5.2 innings. He had four strikeouts with no walks.

PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION

The public betting for this game is backing Pittsburgh. The Pirates are getting 69 percent of the wagers on this contest as a favorite against the Reds.

KEY INJURIES

Scott Schebler is questionable for the Reds due to a sore left elbow. He has sat out the past four games for Cincinnati. Pittsburgh doesn’t have anyone new listed on the injury report for today’s contest.

BETTING STRATEGIES

The Pirates were the underdog on Friday, but managed a 14-3 win over the Reds. Pittsburgh racked up 15 hits in the win, but didn’t have a single home run. Starling Marte and Colin Moran each drove in three runs to lead the Pirates. The scoring surge helped Trevor Williams improved to 2-0 on the season. He allowed two runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings.

Luis Castillo allowed four runs over five innings to fall to 0-2 on the season. The Cincy bullpen was shelled for 10 runs over three innings. At the plate, the Reds were led by Jesse Winker, who had three hits and a RBI. Joey Votto added two hits with a RBI.

The Pirates are off to a 6-1 start to the season and they have had some big surges in scoring. When their bats aren’t working, their pitching has stepped up. I don’t see the Reds having Romano dominate Pittsburgh today and the Cincy bullpen clearly isn’t to be trusted.
