MLB Predictions: Cubs a safe bet on runline to beat Reds? 4/22/17

Cubs vs. Reds Prediction

Are the Cubs a safe runline bet today when they take on the Reds at 1:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cubs are -185 money line favorites to beat the Reds, who have odds of +175 to pull off the upset today at home. With Jake Arrieta set to face Cody Reed in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

Arrieta had his start today pushed back with the Cubs attempt to avoid having Jon Lester start against his former team the Red Sox next week. In three games this season, Arrieta has two wins, a 2.89 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP over 18 2/3 innings of work. He’s off to a great start in his walk year.

With Rookie Davis and Brandon Finnegan both landing on the disabled list this week, Reed will draw the start for the Reds today. He’s off to a nice start this season, tossing eight scoreless innings and posting a 0.97 WHIP. Reed be tested by a red-hot Chicago offense.

Bet Today’s Cubs vs. Reds Game

OUR PICK: The Cubs were down 5-2 with two outs in the top of the ninth last night when Anthony Rizzo tied the contest with a three-run home run. Chicago would go on to win the game in extra innings and seeing as how the club came back twice earlier this week against Milwaukee, the Cubs must feel invincible right now. The team is 43-16 in Arrieta’s last 59 starts and while the Cubs are too risky on the money line, they provide some value on the runline.

SATURDAY MLB FREE PICK: CHICAGO CUBS -1.5 (-105)
