From Rotoworld: Velasquez worked seven shutout frames in the Phillies’ defeat of the Braves on Sunday. Velasquez got stuck with a no-decision after reliever Luis Garcia allowed the Braves to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning. Philly would go on to win it in the bottom of the ninth. Velasquez scattered six hits and two walks over his seven scoreless frames while striking out six. He is 2-6 on the season with a 4.91 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 64/27 K/BB ratio in 13 starts covering 66 innings. Up next is a road start versus the Rockies.
Freeland earned his 11th win of the season in the first half of Sunday’s doubleheader at Nationals Park. Freeland didn’t pitch especially well, yielding nine hits over his five-plus frames, but he easily outdueled Nationals rookie Erick Fedde as Colorado won the early game 10-6. Freeland stands 11-7 with a 3.71 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 76/44 K/BB ratio in 121 1/3 innings this season. Next up is a home start against the last-place Phillies.
