Rays vs. Red Sox Prediction

Have oddsmakers set the over/under too high in today’s Rays and Red Sox matchup at 4:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Red Sox are -210 money line favorites versus the Rays, who have odds of +175 to pull off the upset today at Fenway Park. With Jake Oddorizzi set to face Chris Sale in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

RAYS KEY TRENDS: The Rays are 1-5 in Odorizzi’s last six starts versus American League East opponents and are 2-5 in his last seven outings overall. The Rays are also 17-36 in their last 53 road games, are 3-7 in their last 10 games coming off a win, and are 3-9 in their last 12 games versus a left-handed starter. Tampa Bay is 1-4 in its last five games versus Boston and 2-5 in its last seven road games versus the Red Sox.

RED SOX KEY TRENDS: The Red Sox are now 1-4 in their last five games against American League East opponents, are 6-13 in their last 19 games overall and are 2-8 in their last 10 contests versus a team with a winning record. That said, they’re 11-4 in their last 15 games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.

Bet Today’s Rays vs. Red Sox Game

OUR PICK: Sale has two quality starts in his first two outings with the Red Sox and has zero wins to show for them. That’s because Boston’s offense has been crap when he’s on the mound, including on Monday when they produced just one run in a 2-1 loss to the Tigers. Sale threw 7 2/3 innings of two-run ball, striking out 10 in the process. He’ll pitch well again today and so should Odorizzi, who allowed just two runs on two hits and one walk across six innings of work in Sunday’s win over the Blue Jays. This should be a low-scoring affair today.
