From Rotoworld: Nelson gave up four runs over five innings to take a loss to the Pirates on Thursday. Even Nelson’s bad starts haven’t been that bad; he hasn’t allowed more than four runs in a game since April. He struck out five and walked one today, and he’s now 8-5 with a 3.43 ERA overall.
Gonzalez lost after allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Angels. A rare rough outing for Gonzalez this year. In fact, it’s the first time he’s given up four runs since May 19 and just the third time in 20 starts total. He’s now lost four of his last five outings, but that’s a lot more about run support than anything he’s done wrong. The potent Nationals offense just hasn’t been as kind to him as it has to the rest of the team’s starters.
