Latest on Price: Price allowed three runs on six hits over seven innings, earning the win as the Red Sox beat the Twins 6-3 on Thursday. Price gave up a run in the first and two more in the fourth, looking like he may be in line for a loss and an early exit. He instead straightened up to keep the Twins off the board for his final three innings of work, allowing just two singles over those frames. He didn’t walk a batter while striking out seven on the night, and the win moved the 31-year-old to 3-2 with a 4.61 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 36/15 K/BB ratio in seven starts. Those numbers aren’t very Price-like, but he’s getting there. We’ll see what he can do against a good Rangers lineup on Tuesday.
Darvish was effective but took a loss to the Indians on Wednesday, giving up three runs — two earned — in six innings. He struck out six batters and issued one free pass. He gave up seven hits but none of them left the yard. He falls to 6-6 despite a solid 3.11 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. He has amassed 115 strikeouts and 37 walks in 107 innings. He has an attractive two-start week coming up facing the Red Sox and Angels, both at home.
