Cosart was scheduled to start the season in the Padres’ bullpen after losing out to Trevor Cahill and Luis Perdomo for the two spots up for grabs in the starting rotation. But with Cahill injured, Cosart has the pleasure of starting at Coors Field against one of the more dangerous lineups in the National League.
Chatwood gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings in Wednesday’s 6-1 loss to Milwaukee. He gave up a pair of long balls to the Brewers as his 2017 campaign gets off to a rocky start. After producing an ERA of 3.87 in 2016, many believe Chatwood would take another step this season but a setback might be more likely.
