I’m fading the Padres off their win last night. They’re 1-7 in Richard’s last eight starts during the third game of a series, are 4-9 in his last 13 outings coming off five days of rest, and are 1-4 in his last five starts versus an opponent with a losing record. San Diego, meanwhile, is 2-10 in its last 12 games overall, regardless of who toes the rubber. The Padres are also 1-5 in their last six home games, are 2-7 in their last nine divisional games dating back to last year, and are winless at 0-4 in their last four games coming off a victory. On the other side, the Rockies are 5-2 in Gray’s last seven starts during the third game of a series and are 6-1 in his last seven starts on Wednesday.
