Latest on these pitchers via Rotoworld:
Davies was obliterated in Tuesday’s loss to the Pirates, giving up seven runs on 10 hits over five innings. Davies walked one and struck out four on the night. The Pirates jumped on him for six runs in the first inning, three of which came on one mighty swing from Jose Osuna. He settled in nicely after that though, only allowing a solo shot to Andrew McCutchen in the third the remainder of his night. With this ugly outing, he now sports a bloated 5.40 ERA and 1.58 WHIP on the season. He’ll look for better results when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Sunday.
Teheran carried a bid for a shutout into the eighth inning on Tuesday but wound up on the losing end of the decision after surrendering a three-run homer to Austin Slater. The right-hander struck out two and didn’t walk a batter in the ballgame. Hunter Pence started the eighth inning by reaching on an infield single, then Brandon Belt reached on an error, setting the stage for Slater’s go-ahead blast. Teheran stayed in the game to allow a single to Kelby Tomlinson before departing, who would come around to score off of Ian Krol. He now sits at 6-5 on the season with a disappointing 4.86 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. He’ll do battle against the Brewers his next time out on Sunday.
