The Athletics earned a 3-1 win in the series opener on Monday night. The two were tight all game before Oakland posted a pair of runs in the seventh inning. Jed Lowrie drove in both of the runs on a double. It was one of nine hits for the Athletics. Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Jonathan Lucroy each had two hits in the win for Oakland.
Andrew Triggs pitched five innings in the start for the Athletics and allowed just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Bartolo colon allowed just one run over six innings for the Rangers. He gave up seven hits with four strikeouts. Shin-Soo Choo was the lone Ranger to have two hits in the game.
The Rangers should be able to get a better showing from Hamels tonight. He faced Houston to start the season and I think he can get better results against Oakland. Graveman isn’t a great starter regardless and I think this Los Angeles power row should be able to light him up.
