From Rotoworld: Manaea pitched six innings and allowed two runs Monday in a win over the Blue Jays. Manaea struck out seven and walked three. He’s allowed just four homers in 54 1/3 innings this season after giving up 20 in 144 2/3 innings as a rookie. Everything is looking up for him from a performance standpoint, but he does remain a big health risk going forward.
Andriese (groin) will start Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Athletics. Andriese had been aiming to start Sunday’s series finale but apparently he’s feeling good enough to go one day sooner. The right-hander suffered a mild groin strain late last month but it only cost him one start. Erasmo Ramirez will start the first game of Saturday’s double-dip.
OUR PREDICTION: The A’s are a perfect 4-0 in Manaea’s last four starts, are 4-0 in his last four road starts against a team with a winning record, and are 4-0 in his last four outings versus an opponent from the American League East. On the other side, the Rays are just 2-5 in Andriese’s last seven starts against a team with a losing record and 1-4 in his last five outings versus American League West opponents.
