According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Dodgers are -210 money line favorites versus the Padres, who have odds of +190 to pull off the upset at home. With Wood set to face Clayton Richard in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 7.5 runs.

Wood pitched six innings and allowed one run and three hits Friday in a victory over the Rockies. It was a surprise to see Wood hit for himself in the bottom of the sixth, but he didn’t come back out for the seventh after 98 pitches. That’s actually a season-high pitch count for him this year, as the Dodgers have tried to be very careful with him after he opened the season in the pen. He’s 8-0 with a 1.86 ERA.
Richard surrendered five runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings while taking a no-decision in Sunday’s loss to the Tigers. Richard surrendered a pair of leads in this one, blowing a 3-0 advantage when he allowed three runs in the fourth inning and coughing up a 5-3 lead when he yielded a game-tying two-run homer to Nick Castellanos in the sixth inning. He struck out three and walked two in the lackluster outing. Richard will bring a 4.42 ERA and 1.44 WHIP into a home start against the smoking-hot Dodgers next time he toes the rubber.
OUR PREDICTION: The Dodgers are 10-4 in their last 14 meetings with the Padres in San Diego and are 49-22 in their last 71 games in this series. They’re also a perfect 8-0 in Wood’s last eight starts, are 38-14 in their last 52 games overall, and are 21-6 in their last 27 games coming off a win.On the other side, the Padres are 0-5 in their last five games versus National League West rivals and are 3-7 in Richard’s last 10 starts.
FRIDAY MLB PREDICTION: LOS ANGELES DODGERS -1.5 (-120)
