Angels vs. Nationals Prediction

Will the Angels pull off a small upset tonight when they visit the Nationals at 7:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Nationals are -115 money line favorites to beat the Angels, who have odds of +100 to pull off the upset. With Tyler Skaggs set to face Gio Gonzalez in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Skaggs fired off 6 1/3 innings of scoreless ball while scattering five hits in Thursday’s win over the Mariners. Skaggs struck out five and walked three on the evening. He threw 84 pitches (54 strikes) over his 6 1/3 innings of work. Skaggs has made just seven starts this season due to a severe oblique injury which cost him three months of work. When healthy, he has pitched to a 3.63 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He will look to build on Thursday’s strong performance in a road start against the Nationals next time he takes to the mound.

Gonzalez held the Marlins to one run in seven innings and earned a win on Wednesday. He scattered seven base hits — all singles — and did not issue a walk while fanning six batters in the premium outing. After struggling last year, the 31-year-old veteran has bounced back in a major way in 2017. He has a 10-5 record with a sterling 2.59 ERA after 23 starts. He has 138 strikeouts in 149 1/3 innings.

Bet Tonight’s Angels vs. Nationals Game

OUR PREDICTION: The Angels have won six of their last eight games against the Nationals, are a perfect 6-0 in their last six games overall, and are 35-17 in their last 52 games versus National League East opponents. The Nationals, meanwhile, have dropped four of their last five interleague games, are 2-5 in Gonzalez’s last seven home starts and are 4-10 in his last 14 outings coming off five days of rest.
