From Rotoworld: Stroman surrendered just six hits and one run over seven strong innings Saturday in the Blue Jays’ win over the Astros. He tallied six strikeouts and issued three walks. The right-hander finished the first half in style, shutting down the league’s best lineup for his ninth win of the season. The only run he allowed came on George Springer’s RBI double in the third inning. He’s been Toronto’s most consistent starter this year, delivering an impressive 3.28 ERA across 18 starts. The former Duke Blue Devil will face Detroit after the All-Star break.
Rodriguez (knee) allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings Sunday in his latest rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket. It was his most impressive appearance thus far. Rodriguez, out since the start of June with a recurring knee issue, allowed six hits while walking none and striking out seven. The southpaw is due to make his return to Boston’s rotation next Monday against the Blue Jays.
