TORONTO NOTES: On Sunday the Blue Jays released Melvin Upton after failing to find a trade partner for the outfielder. He’s likely to clear waivers and become a free agent, at which point he can be signed at the veteran minimum. Upton hit 20 homers while stealing 27 bases last season but hit just .238. The Tigers could be an option for the recently released outfielder.
BALTIMORE NOTES: The Orioles had to place right-hander Chris Tillman on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday. The pitcher is dealing with right shoulder inflammation and never got on track this spring due to the nagging injury. He’s throwing from the mound, however, and hopes to join the Orioles rotation by early next month.
Bet Today’s Blue Jays vs. Orioles Game
OUR PICK: The Blue Jays are 6-1 in Estrada’s last seven starts against the Orioles and 9-3 in his last 13 road starts. On the other side, the Orioles are just 1-6 in Guasman’s last seven starts when he pitches Game 1 of a series and despite Edwin Encarnacion’s offseason departure to the Indians, the Blue Jays still have a rather stacked lineup.
