From Rotoworld: Foltynewicz struck out 11 while allowing one run over 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Marlins on Saturday. Foltynewicz and Marlins starter Dan Straily were engaged in something of a pitcher’s duel into the sixth inning, and it was actually Folty who blinked first. A Giancarlo Stanton solo homer threatened to mar an otherwise dominant outing from the 25-year-old, who gave up just four hits without walking a batter, but the Braves came to his defense in the bottom half of the frame, earning him his 10th win of the year. Foltynewicz is 10-6 with a 3.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 115/42 K/BB ratio heading into next weekend’s start against the Cardinals.
Wainwright dealt with a cut on his right middle finger during Sunday’s start in Cincinnati. It helps explain why he walked a season-high five while allowing three runs over just three innings. “I thought I did a good job of keeping my calluses going and my fingernails in the right spot, but apparently, I failed miserably,” Wainwright said. Wainwright has super glue on the cut now and also received laser treatment in addition to soaking his finger in a solution designed to toughen the skin. As of now, it sounds like he’ll be fine to make his next scheduled start Friday versus the Braves
