MLB Predictions: Will Bryce Harper-less Nats beat Giants? 8/13/17

Giants vs. Nationals Prediction

Will the Bryce Harper-less Nationals take down the Giants in the first game of Sunday’s double-header at 1:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Nationals are -155 money line favorites to beat the Giants, who have odds of +145 to pull off the upset. With Chris Stratton set to face A.J. Cole in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Stratton allowed three runs — two earned — over five innings Saturday in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks. San Francisco would go on to win the game in extras, but Stratton didn’t really help the cause. He gave up two runs in the first inning and one more in the fifth, walking four total batters and surrendering five hits. The right-hander will bring a 6.63 ERA and 1.74 WHIP into his next start on the road versus the NL East-leading Nationals

Cole struggled in Tuesday’s loss to the Marlins, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings. The rookie right-hander walked one and punched out five on the evening. All of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Derek Dietrich launching a solo shot in the fourth inning and Giancarlo Stanton crushing a three-run blast in the fifth. He’s likely heading back to Triple-A Syracuse.

Bet Today’s Giants vs. Nationals Game

OUR PREDICTION: The Giants have dropped six of their last seven games in Washington, are 0-5 in their last five games versus the Nationals, and are 1-6 in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record. On the other side, the Nationals are 5-1 in their last six games overall, are 5-1 in their last six home games, and are 16-6 in their last 22 games versus National League West opponents.
