D-Backs vs. Cardinals Prediction
Will the Cardinals salvage a series split against the Diamondbacks when the teams meet at 2:15PM ET today?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are -120 money line favorites to beat the Diamondbacks, who have odds of +100 to pull off the small upset. With Taijuan Walker set to face Lance Lynn in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Walker allowed two runs – one earned – and three hits with a walk and six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Braves. Walker left with the game tied 2-2, handing the keys of the car over to J.J. Hoover. The reliever proceeded to crash the car immediately, allowing four runs – three earned – and three hits with a walk while retiring just one batter. Walker, who also smacked his first-career home run on Tuesday, will look to get back into the win column Sunday afternoon in St. Louis.
Lynn struck out six across six innings of one-run ball but settled for a no-decision in the Cardinals’ 3-2 win over the Rockies on Tuesday. He was pulled after issuing a leadoff walk and then a double in the seventh inning, and one of those runners came around to score. Lynn limited the Rockies to just three hits and two walks over his six frames on the night, throwing 94 pitches. In five starts so far in July, the big right-hander has surrendered just four runs over 30 2/3 innings (1.17 ERA). The Cardinals could trade Lynn before his next start, but if they don’t he’ll face the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Bet Today’s Diamondbacks vs. Cardinals Game
OUR PREDICTION: Call it a hunch, but I think Lynn comes out on fire today. He’s usually got a chip on his shoulder and after his name was circulating the rumor mill for multiple weeks, it appears as though the Cardinals will hang onto him for the final two months of the season. He has stated that he wants to be in St. Louis and even though the trade deadline isn’t until Monday afternoon, it’s unlikely a team still wants to acquire him after starting today. The Cardinals are 6-2 in their last eight home games and I like them to earn a series split today.
