Latest on Diaz from Rotoworld: In his second big-league start, Diaz gave up four runs in 3 1/3 innings Friday against the Brewers. Diaz, who spent last year in low-A ball, isn’t quite ready for this. He made a nice impression in his first few regular-season relief appearances, but he’s sporting a 7.36 ERA in 29 1/3 innings now. It’s unclear whether he’ll get another start.
Butler struggled in a no-decision on Friday, surrendering four runs on four hits across 5 2/3 innings against the Pirates. Butler walked three and didn’t strike out a batter in this one. Josh Bell proved to be his nemesis, crushing a solo homer to get the Pirates on the board in the fifth inning, then adding a two-run triple and scoring the go-ahead run the following frame. Butler has done a decent job as an injury fill-in, registering a 4.41 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 21/18 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings. He’ll do battle against the Padres his next time out on Wednesday.

OUR PREDICTION: The Padres have dropped 43 of their last 60 games on the road, are 1-4 in their last five games overall, and are winless at 0-5 in their last five games after scoring two runs or less in their previous game. They’ve won four of five overall, are 55-26 in their last 81 home games, and have won six of their last seven home games versus a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.
