According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are -200 money line favorites versus the Marlins, who have odds of +160 to pull off the upset in Chicago. With Jeff Locke set to face Jake Arrieta in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Locke struck out seven Diamondbacks while allowing one earned run over 5 2/3 innings in his Marlins debut Thursday. Locke gave up just three hits and was working on a shutout until the D’backs pushed across a run in the sixth inning, spelling the end of the southpaw’s night. Unfortunately for him, the Marlins bullpen couldn’t hold the lead, leaving Locke with a no-decision. Nevertheless, it was a good debut for the 29-year-old, who missed the first two months of the season with biceps tendonitis.
Arrieta surrendered one run on five hits over six innings while taking a no-decision in Wednesday’s loss to the Padres. Arrieta struck out seven and walked one on the afternoon. The lone run to score on his watch came when Ryan Schimpf socked a solo home run in the second inning. Arrieta has brought his ERA down from 5.44 to 4.60 over his last three starts. He will try to keep whittling at the earned run mark in a home showdown with the Marlins next time he toes the rubber.
Bet Tonight’s Marlins vs. Cubs Game
OUR PREDICTION: The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Chicago. The under is also 6-1 in the Cubs’ last seven games overall, is 4-1 in their last five home games, and is 5-1 in their last six games versus a team with a losing record. Until Chicago’s lineup comes alive, the under should continue to be a good investment.
TUESDAY MLB PREDICTION: MARLINS/CUBS UNDER 8.5
