MLB Predictions: Will Cubs & Giants fall under betting total again? 8/8/17

Cubs vs. Giants Prediction

Will the Cubs and Giants fall under the betting total again tonight when the two teams meet at AT&T Park at 10:15PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are -175 money line favorites versus the Giants, who have odds of +157 to pull off the upset at home. With Jose Quintana set to face Ty Blach in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8 runs.

From Rotoworld: Quinatana had his first rough start with the Cubs on Thursday, giving up six runs in five innings against the Diamondbacks. Quintana allowed two homers and four runs in the first. He bounced back after a rain delay and was throwing well until Paul Goldschmidt came through with his second homer of the day in the fifth. Quintana got beat today, but given that most of the damage came off Goldschmidt’s bat, he got beat by one of the very best.

Blach allowed two runs on six hits over eight innings in Thursday’s win over the A’s. It probably helped that Blach was gifted a 7-0 lead after just two innings. He struck out four and walked one in the strong outing, limiting the A’s to just solitary runs in the fourth and eighth innings. He also clocked a three-run home run in the fifth inning, just for good measure. The 27-year-old southpaw has now thrown at least seven innings in each of his last four starts. He will try for more of the same when he brings his 4.24 ERA and 1.30 WHIP into a home start against the Cubs next time he takes to the mound.

Bet Tonight’s Cubs vs. Giants Game

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 17-8-1 in the Cubs’ last 26 games following a win, is 18-7-1 in their last 26 road games, and is 10-1-1 in their last 12 games versus a team with a winning percentage below .400. On the other side, the under is 5-1 in Blach’s last six starts overall, is 5-0 in his last five home starts versus a team with a winning record, and is 12-4-2 in the Giants’ last 18 home games versus an opponent with a winning road record.
