According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cubs are -135 money line favorites versus the Padres, who have odds of +125 to pull off the upset tonight at home. With Eddie Butler set to face Dinelson Lamet in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8 runs.

Butler pitched five innings and allowed one run in a victory over the Giants on Thursday. Oddly, manager Joe Maddon opted to let Butler hit in the bottom of the fifth and then pulled him to start the sixth after just 69 pitches. It makes plenty of sense to tread carefully with the 26-year-old Butler, who battled shoulder problems and was constantly mishandled by the Rockies. He’ll likely be inconsistent but occasionally excellent for as long as the Cubs keep him in the rotation. (Rotoworld)
Lamet struck out eight while allowing one run over five innings in his MLB debut Thursday, a 4-3 win over the Mets. Lamet yielded just three hits, including a Lucas Duda solo homer, while also walking two in the outing. It was a heck of a debut for the 24-year-old, who earned the shot by posting a 3.23 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 39 innings at Triple-A El Paso to start the year. It certainly won’t be his last start with the big club after that kind of debut.
