According to oddsmakers from online sports book YouWager, the Cubs are -139 moneyline favorites to beat the Brewers, who have +130 money line odds to pull off the upset today at home. The total, meanwhile, sits at 8.5 runs.

The Cubs opened as -145 money line favorites but their odds have dropped to -139 at the majority of online sportsbooks. The Brewers, meanwhile, hit the board at +125 but their odds have climbed to +129. The total has also dropped, moving from 9 down to 8.5.

PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION

As of this writing, 70% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Cubs to beat the Brewers on the money line. Meanwhile, 79% of the betting tickets are on the over.

OUR PREDICTION

Darvish burned plenty of bettors a week ago when he was roughed up by a bard Marlins team in Miami. I think for that reason, the Cubs’ money line odds aren’t as expensive today in Milwaukee. I see value in backing a Darvish bounceback. Granted, he’s pitching in a hitter’s park today but he has elite strikeout potential and Christian Yelich is likely to miss yet another game for the Brewers.

On the other side, Davies was roughed up in his start, allowing eight hits and six runs in only 5 2/3 innings. Unlike Darvish, Davies has average strikeout ability, which could be problematic against Anthony Rizzo, Ian Happ, Kyle Schwarber and Kris Bryant. This isn’t my favorite play today but I do see value in taking the Cubs in what feels like a discounted price.
