From Rotoworld: Greinke allowed two earned runs, five hits and no walks with six strikeouts over eight innings in a win against the Braves on Monday. The All-Star bounced back nicely after a subpar effort by his standards last time out. He has won four straight decisions, and he has lost just once since May 27. Greinke is 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA over 27 innings across four starts in July, his best ERA of any month. He’ll be back at it Saturday afternoon in St. Louis opposite the ice-cold Mike Leake.
Leake pitched seven shutout innings Monday in the Cardinals’ 8-2 defeat of the Rockies. Leake carved his way through a dangerous Colorado lineup, yielding only four hits — all singles — while striking out six batters and issuing zero walks. It was a nice bounceback effort from the 29-year-old right-hander, who was pounded for seven runs — four earned — on 10 hits last Wednesday by the Mets. He’ll bring a cool 3.20 ERA into his next start at home versus the Diamondbacks.
