Maeda allowed three runs over four frames in Tuesday’s 9-4 victory over the Cardinals. Maeda was unlucky in the first inning, as he appeared to have a strike ’em out, throw ’em out double play following a Dexter Fowler leadoff single, but home plate umpire Mark Wegner called an obvious strike ball four instead. Things unraveled from there, but he rebounded with three scoreless frames after that before being pinch-hit for in the top of the fifth when the Dodgers had a scoring opportunity. Maeda has surrendered six runs over just nine innings in his two starts since returning from the disabled list. He faces the Brewers at Miller Park on Sunday. (Rotoworld)
Davies pitched just five innings on Tuesday in a 5-4 loss to the Mets, surrendering two earned runs on six hits. He also walked two and struck out just one batter over those five frames. He has struck out just eight combined batters over his last four starts and is now 5-3 with a 5.18 ERA and 1.64 WHIP.
