Latest from Rotoworld: Ryu will start for the Dodgers on Wednesday in St. Louis. He’ll be filling in for Alex Wood, who is being skipped due to SC joint inflammation. Ryu made a piggyback relief appearance last Thursday behind Kenta Maeda and earned his first career save after throwing four innings of scoreless ball against the Cardinals. The right-hander holds a 4.28 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 38/16 K/BB ratio in 40 total innings this season.
Martinez yielded three runs in 7 1/3 innings and struck out nine Friday in a loss to the Rockies. That’s a fine Coors Field outing for Martinez, but there was no run support to be had tonight. It was the second time this season that the Cardinals have been shut out in a Martinez start. They’ve averaged 3.6 runs per game in his start, which is why he has a 3-4 record to go along with his 3.32 ERA.
Bet Tonight’s Dodgers vs. Cardinals Game
OUR PREDICTION: Martinez is the Cardinals’ ace and has been fantastic since a slow start in April, but St. Louis has a punch-less offense. They struggle against left-handers so facing Ryu tonight will be a challenge. The Dodgers are 6-1 in their last seven games versus the Cardinals and are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games following a win. The Cardinals, meanwhile, have dropped five of their last six games overall and are 1-6 in their last seven home games.
