MLB Predictions: Will Giants’ Bumgarner beat Padres in his return? 7/15/17

Giants vs. Padres Prediction

Will Giants’ ace Madison Bumgarner beat the Padres in his return to the mound tonight at 8:40PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are -150 money line favorites versus the Padres, who have odds of +135 to pull off the upset. With Bumgarner set to face Jhoulys Chacin in the pitching matchup, the over/under sits at 7.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Bumgarner (shoulder) allowed just one unearned run while striking out eight over six innings Monday in a rehab start with High-A San Jose. He surrendered just two hits on the night, throwing 86 pitches. Bumgarner really struggled in his previous two rehab outings, but it appears he really took a step forward in this one. He’s expected to rejoin the Giants’ rotation on Saturday in San Diego.

Chacin surrendered just one run through 6 1/3 innings as his club held on for a 2-1 win over the Phillies. He struck out six batters and walked two while holding his opponents to three base hits. He was taken deep by Maikel Franco for a solo shot in the fifth inning. Chacin improves to 8-7 with a 4.32 ERA after 18 starts.

Bet Today’s Giants vs. Padres Game

OUR PREDICTION: Even though Bumgarner had a couple of rough outings in his rehab assignment, there’s no question the Giants receive a boost by his presence. They’re also coming off a win last night, are 4-0 in their last four games against the rest of the National League West, and are 5-2 in their last seven road games. On the other side, the Padres are just 3-14 in their last 17 divisional games and have dropped five of their last six games against a left-hander.
