From Rotoworld: Samardzija allowed two runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings in Monday’s win over the Rockies. This was a fine outing from Samardzija, who struck out five without walking a batter. He kept the Rockies at bay on the scoreboard until the seventh inning, when he surrendered an RBI single to Trevor Story. The second run on his line came home inherited courtesy of Hunter Strickland. Samardzija will bring a 4.63 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 117/13 K/BB ratio (105 innings) into a road start against the Pirates next time he takes to the mound.
Williams pitched well in a no-decision against the Rays on Tuesday, surrendering two runs on six hits over seven-plus innings. Williams racked up seven strikeouts on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. The Rays scratched out a run against him in the fourth inning and added another on an RBI single by Adeiny Hechavarria before chasing Williams in the eighth.
